Get tide and current predictions for over 7,000 locations worldwide. Tides automatically looks up the closest prediction station to your location and retrieves the tide table for that spot.
Find out when to go clam digging, know when the current brings the fish by your favorite spot, or catch the outgoing tide for your next boat trip.
Perfect for vacationers. Theres no need to figure out your latitude or longitude or Zip code. Your iPhone or iPod Touch figures it out for you.
Pros and cons of Tides app for iPhone and iPad
Tides app good for
Good program! I am glad somebody has developed this for iPhone/iPod Touch! It would be nice to see a graphical representation of tide heights (on a chart) as opposed to just the high and low times. It would also be useful to be able to see information for a few months in advance as this can be a very handy planning tool for boat maintenance (determining the optimal time to take the boats out of the water, etc.). These two features would have bumped the rating from 4 to 5... I look forward to seeing an updated version - keep up the good work!
Great application! I agree that a graphical option would be nice along with an option of the time period displayed.
I use to download and print this stuff hardcopy. What a great app for me. Im a fisherman and this is invaluable.
Simple- location and prediction. Sunrise and sunset and Tides.
Accurate- many applications and tide services are not accurate and do not compensate for daylight savings and are out an hour. I live in the arctic. This works just fine for me, the nets, getting home before dark.
When I first fired up Tides, it immediately closed, as other reviewers mentioned. They also mentioned how to fix the problem, tapping the icon along the bottom to bring up the screen where you pick the location. I didnt even switch from Auto mode to a manually chosen location -- just going into this screen seems to have fixed the crash-on-launch problem. Tides is a very useful app for me now, and even better for my rockhound girlfriend!
I rely on this app daily and find its simple interface easy to use and read. A really cool function to add would be an alarm or notification of some kind that you could set to tell you when tide is high, low or at a certain level in between Tides. For instance, I can point my sea wall on an outgoing Tides after the tide drops under 6. If the app could be set to inform me when it reaches that level, it would make my life easier.
Some bad moments
Quits before fully loading first display. Problem signaled to developer: no reply. Do not waste your money.
Awesome start just fix the overlap and this is perfect thank you. Seems also to only work in wifi mode? When wifi turned off and using 3g of crashed out once launched!
Tides fails to respond on many occasion on the iPhone and characters often overlapp in display.
Good concept, needs major work though.
This app needs Internet access to find Tides... As if this is going to happen in the middle of nowhere on the ocean...
Cheers, Klaus
App does not allow ability to enter tide points near a selected location, which would be handy......
This app locks up and shows Tides that are a week or more old - even if you have wifi it doesnt work
